The Side Hug

Is it just me, or is the side hug weird? It always seems a bit awkward when you get the side hug from people. Dont get me wrong, it certainly has its place. For example, when greeting someone you've only met just recently and are not quite ready for the full frontal hug. Thats a good time for the side hug. Also, when you go in for the hug and they go in for the hand shake or vice versa, that is an acceptable time for the side hug. It helps derail an awkward/embarassing moment. Or sometimes your hands are full and the side hug is the only one that can physically be done. Thats acceptable too.

People never know what to do with their head when coming at you from the side. It is very easy to clunk heads in this situation. With a full frontal, you go left or right. With the side, you can only go forward or back, which just looks silly. Especially if you are the same height. That's the worst.

So Im going to go ahead and stick with the full frontal hug as much as I possibly can, and try to aviod the side hug as much a I possibly can. If you feel the need to come at me from the side, I'll roll with it. Just keep in mind...I'd rather have you from the front.

Any thoughts?

Just for old times sake

Sometimes I just miss the old days. Remember how wholesome this show was? They tackled issues like drugs and guns. They taught us to just say no. Now there are shows like Gossip Girl that teach kids to say yes to EVERYTHING. Anyway, I digress.

I always wanted to be Kelly (who didnt?!). And I wanted to marry Zack, not Slater. Lisa was super cool and the friend I always wanted. Jessie was really annoying. Screech was a bit creepy....and was definetly proven that way when the porn stuff came out. Mr. Belding was cool and I felt bad he had to take so much crap.

Oh, Saved By The Bell, I would watch you again if you came back on air. I need more wholesome goodness in my life. And a little more of Zack.

"Think it while you drink it!"

"Think it while you drink it!" This water claims to be infused with positive energy through vibrations and restorative frequencies. They actually pick the colors for the labels according to the different chakras in the body, they play music to the water after it is bottled, and the actual word on the bottle sends a restorative frequency to the body when you drink it. H2Om is an interactive hydration experience for those who care about love, health, and well-being.

How brilliant! This inspired me to come up with my own positive energy product. Im thinking about positive energy bedding sheet sets for those that wish to have a significant other. They would of course be red, and have words like "love" and "marriage" and "booty call". I would infuse them with love by playing BoysIIMen and Marvin Gaye. My slogan would be "Looking for someone neat? Sleep on this sheet!"

These should be available for purchase sometime around...never. But feel free to steal the idea. Its a good one, I know.

Kirkland

This was taken in downtown Kirkland. This is one of the MANY reasons I love love love living in Kirkland....the beauty never ends here. What do you love about your town?

Where does he sit?

Does this remind you of anything? Anything at all? If so, consider yourself forever 12 years old. You've got to admit, this is pretty funny.
This picture was taken from a new favorite site of mine. For more of this good stuff, click here.

I have athletic friends

Adam did it! He finished the Seattle To Portland ride. Quite early I might add. Actually, he kind of kicked ass. Becky, Dave, and I went down to Portland to meet him at the finish line and take him home. He beat us there. Super impressive, super inspiring.

Im getting smarter...

I have a new favorite magazine:

Newsweek

I have to say, this magazine rocks! As someone who LOVES to discuss a variety of things, this is the magazine for me. It gives short snippits of interesting stories and topics....not to deep yet not to dumbed-down. Im not going to pretend I understand everything in the magazine (politics, foreign affairs) but I will say it at least gives me some much needed insight into current world news. Im hoping that by reading Newsweek, I will become smarter thru osmosis. Please, please, please pick up this magazine sometime and call me to talk about your favorite article. Chances are, I will already be thinking about it....

Benefits of Drugs

All I can say is..interesting. Makes me think. Makes me ponder. Obviouse statement here: Drugs can be extremely dangerous. But are there truly benefits like this? Especially in a very controlled setting? Im no advocate for drug use and am not encouraging this.....just a point to ponder.

To my sister

Dear Angie,
Thanks for letting me copy you with a blog. And with travel. And with photography. And with painting. And with our love of color. But not cooking. You can have that all your own. Wasn't I supposed to be your copy cat when we were young kids? I suppose you're wondering "why now? Why did you have to be my copy cat now?" Well, Im not sure. I guess its maybe because now you're cool. Not that you weren't back then.... its just that now, well, you're super cool. Let me know when you get any other hobbies. Ill be sure to follow suit.

Love,
Shannon (your protege and sister)

Soft

One word comes to mind.....SOFT. Makes me want to snuggle up to it and take a nap. Anyone else?

Wood

I love wood. I love light. Put them together and you get this pretty shot of wood with light shining on it. Very scientifical. Yet pretty.
